Have you ever tried reporting a broken streetlight or an overflowing drain, only to feel like you threw your complaint into a black box? Indian public grievance portals fail because they treat civic engagement like filing taxes—bureaucratic, confusing, and unrewarding. Because of this, the mobile-first Indian youth simply don't participate. I built SortIt to change that by turning participatory governance into a consumer-grade, frictionless social experience.
SortIt is an end-to-end platform. To stop political spam and fake reports, the mobile frontend pulls live GPS coordinates and forces a real-time camera capture.
This data feeds a powerful two-tiered technopolitical system:
Instead of relying on human moderators to sift through spam, SortIt's Python FastAPI backend uses an open-weights Indic AI model (Vyakyarth) for semantic deduplication. When someone reports an issue, the AI compares its mathematical meaning against other reports inside the exact same Uber H3 map hexagon. Duplicates are instantly blocked and merged into "Co-Signs," algorithmically building a unified political voice.
To pull this complex, full-stack architecture off in 48 hours as a solo builder, I utilized an agentic coding workflow powered entirely by OpenAI models. This AI-driven workflow was instrumental in architecting the React Native UI, the Python backend, and the complex geospatial mapping integrations from scratch.
